He said that in contrast to WGP#1, which can successfully enter and thrive in the European market, F1 Powerboat continues to struggle to find a proper market, which results in the tournaments taking place in the Southeast Asian region instead.

WGP#1 will be held this year in Poland (May 18-21), France (July 27-30), the USA (October 4-8), and Thailand (Pattaya: December 13-17).

Parikhet said WGP#1 tournament can bolster the country in various aspects:

• Promoting the sports-tourism industry of the country as 2,000-3000 athletes were predicted to join the competition, generating around up to 1 billion baht in circulation.

• Supporting the country's sports sector, particularly the water jet sector.

• Bringing the nation's sports industry to an international level as the competition is broadcasted to more than 120 countries.

• Establishing the contest as a benchmark for other domestic competitions.

• Preventing athletes from being exploited

• Enhancing the dignity of Thai sports
